Write for us
We welcome pitches from writers who are curious about the places, objects, customs and histories around moviegoing. Send proposals through the Contact page, rather than submitting a finished article without an invitation.
What we welcome
Strong proposals bring a fresh, well-defined subject to cinema spaces, filmgoing, projection, printed film culture or movie memory. We are interested in explainers, comparisons, histories and thoughtful guides to noticing details. Keep the focus on movie culture beyond a general review or broad claim about what audiences think.
What makes a pitch work
Tell us the central question, why it is worth a reader's time, what the piece would cover and what information or sources support it. Name the intended form and approximate scope, and mention any relevant experience without relying on credentials as a substitute for a clear idea. Avoid pitches that depend on invented examples, unsupported claims or access you do not have.
How to send it
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option for a pitch. Include a brief outline and any links or source details that help us understand the proposal. Please do not send a complete draft unless we have asked for one; a proposal is not a promise of publication.
Movies are more than what appears on screen
The room, the ritual and the little objects around a screening all belong to movie culture. We look at those details with curiosity and care.
